The government of Newfoundland and Labrador announced a new immigration pathway on November 18. This pathway will look to hold newcomers who are already living in the province.
This new immigration program, Priority Skills Newfoundland and Labrador, falls under the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP). However, this program will attract highly educated and highly skilled candidates having work experience.
Candidates having work experience in the Information Technology industry are ideal for this program. The government is planning to launch this program on January 2, 2021.
This new program will help to cover the labor shortage in the province in specific high-growth sectors. Employers were continuously looking for skilled and experienced workers. Thus, this new pathway comes as a response to the growing demand of employers. The province made its official announcement in a press release.
Eligible Candidates for the Priority Skills Pathway
Masters and Ph.D. holders of Memorial University who graduate within the last three years. However, candidates with a degree related to IT & communication technology, healthcare, ocean technology, aquaculture, and agriculture are encouraged to apply for this program.
