Express Entry: Canada invites 4,750 CEC candidates

Express Entry Immigration

Express Entry System is one of the most popular and finest immigration systems in Canada. However, immigrants can get the Canadian PR visa through this system within just six months, or it can be less. Moreover, the period of processing starts from the date of submission.

There were many obstacles, and delayed processing was normal before the introduction of the Express Entry System. The processing of applications before this system was paper-based. However, documents used to be lost or misplaced in this transition.

Moreover, the waiting time for the mail arrival was also time taking due to the delay in application processing. However, Express Entry is an electronic system, and the whole processing of applications is easier than before.

Moreover, since the system is electronic, so there is no possibility of discrimination. The immigration department selects the candidates purely on the basis of their CRS scores.

Canada Invites 4,750 CEC Candidates

On January 7, Canada held another Express Entry draw to invite more candidates. However, it was the second invitation round that happened in two days. Canada is all trying level best to invite more candidates and achieve its set target in 2021.

The immigration department issued a total of 4,750 invitations in this draw. However, the CRS score requirements were also low in this draw. Candidates had to score at least 461 to get ITAs. However, the results for this draw announced today on January 8, 2021.

Recently, Canada held the New Year, issuing invitations two days ago. In this draw, the immigration department issued invitations to the candidates who received their provincial nominations.

Canada held its first draw on January 6, 2021, and invited a total of 250 candidates. However, the minimum score requirement to get invitations was 813.

However, candidates who received nominations from an Express Entry-aligned Provincial Nominee Program can automatically get 600 points. These points can be added to their overall score. Moreover, the score requirement for such programs is higher than other rounds of invitation.

It is not possible to tell whether IRCC will get back to organizing only program-specific draws. However, IRCC did organize such draws last year amid the pandemic. These draws happened when Canada first closed its borders due to the coronavirus.

IRCC held CEC program-specific draws between March and August of the last year. However, they would take place right after PNP-specific draws. Moreover, the number of ITAs issued these two draws usually combined to add up to a round number.

How Express Entry Works

Express Entry System works under the federal government for managing the applications of three main economic-class programs:

  • Federal Skilled Trades Class
  • Federal Skilled Worker Program
  • Canadian Experience Class

However, most provinces in Canada offer immigration streams that work with the Express Entry. The candidates who apply under this system get CRS scores according to multiple factors like age, education, work experience, and language proficiency.

Moreover, in some cases, the time and date at which a candidate created the profile is also a ranking factor. Program-specific draws like CEC are different from all-program invitation rounds.

Moreover, all-program invitation rounds tend to have higher cut-off scores. Whereas draws like CEC that are program-specific have lower score requirements. It can be due to a smaller pool of candidates.

Tie-break rule also implemented in today’s draw. However, this ruled can be implemented to rank the candidates who are having the same CRS score. It also includes the factor of date and time when the candidate created the profile.

However, the tie-breaking rule in today’s draw implemented for September 12, 2020, at 20:46:32U UTC. It means that candidates having a score of 461 received invitations if they submitted their profile before this date and time.

Moreover, the total number of invitations issued in 2021 after this draw reached 5,000.

According to the 2021 – 2023 Immigration Levels Plan, Canada targeted the arrival of nearly 110,000 Express Entry immigrants every year.

Moreover, candidates can also submit their Express Entry profiles if even the coronavirus-related restrictions are in place. IRCC will continue to accept the submission of the application under the Express Entry System.
