British Columbia Immigration

Every year thousands of immigrants move to British Columbia under different British Columbia Immigration Programs. Well, B.C. is a perfect place to move, and it offers many opportunities for its residents.

The province is located on the west coast, which gives it a temperate climate with warm summers. However, winters in this province are milder than most parts of Canada. B.C., as a whole, has a very low unemployment rate. British Columbia creates more than 400,000 jobs every year.

Vancouver is the capital city of the province, and it is a more livable city in Canada. However, it is also a thriving economic hub of the country and offers excellent career prospects and business opportunities. If you are moving to B.C. with your family, you will find a variety of excellent school options and outdoor activities both in winter and summer to keep people of all ages active and healthy.

British Columbia Invites Tech Workers and Entrepreneurs

B.C. invites immigrants from all over the world under different British Columbia Immigration Programs. The most famous immigration program is a Provincial Nomination Program that invites many immigrants every year.

B.C. held a draw on December 1, 2020, and invited immigration candidates to apply for Canadian PR under PNP. In this draw, B.C. invited an unspecified number of candidates. However, invitations were issued through Express Entry BC and Skills Immigration Streams.

Candidates received invitations under International Graduate and Skilled Worker subcategories through the BC PNP Tech Pilot. However, invited candidates should have job offers in any eligible tech occupation to get the nomination.

Candidates needed a minimum score of 80 in all categories to get invitations. However, the province has issued 11 more invitations under its Entrepreneur immigration system. Moreover, the minimum score required for this draw was 121.

How to Apply

British Columbia holds draws for two PNP categories and streams weekly. If you want to apply for the Express Entry BC or Skills Immigration categories, you will need to create a profile on the online portal of BC PNP. However, you will need to register your profile under SIRS.

IRCC evaluates the applications and issues scores to candidates on the basis of different factors. These factors can be education, work experience, language proficiency in English, and employment location.

In case of approval, candidates can use the provincial nomination to apply for PR with IRCC under the PNP. Express Entry candidates who get the nomination from B.C. will get 600 additional CRS points.

There are different British Columbia Immigration Programs, but BC PNP is a popular program for immigration. Canada uses this program to nominate newcomers who are able to settle into the local labor market.

The B.C. PNP has conducted 25 technical draws so far. However, the minimum scores have dropped from 90 to 80 points that have remained constant for several months. Moreover, the province continues to invite workers and graduates in non-tech occupations regularly.

B.C.’s technology sector is one of the highest growing industry and has grown even faster in recent years. This industry has grown quickly due to the influx of international talent, leaving U.S. technology centers like Silicon Valley. It has happened due to the strict economic and immigration policies of the U.S.

Additionally, other factors can be the mild climate of B.C. and proximity to U.S. markets that attract workers and companies.
